Head of a Woman is a series of square-like assemblages of colourfully painted wooden panels. The work cross-references all kinds of art historical works and themes. In particular it adds to and plays with the theme of the ‘female buste’. And specifically hints at: Giacometti’s ‘Tête qui Regarde’ (collection Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam), with these heads ‘looking back’, or perhaps; the other way.
