The deep black steel sculptures A and B, - deriving from both Eastern and Western art historical, visual languages -, belong to one another but, after these photographs are taken, will forever not be together. A remains in Japan. B travelled to and will stay in The Netherlands. So when meeting one sculpture, either here or there, the other one will always be physically absent, but present in thought. Mentally holding, holding on to, each other they create an invisible air bridge between the two distant markings on earth.
And there’s something else to it: in the void created by the absence of the other sculpture, they will embrace and love you instead - when you stand close enough -, and make you feel your own presence in time and space.
